I Struggle Too
As a busy physician it’s difficult to maintain my calories and exercise appropriately. As a matter of fact, for quite a few months I wasn’t consistent with my exercise and found it much more difficult to maintain my healthy weight.
However after gaining weight, I worked really hard to get to a healthy weight and promised myself that I would never allow myself to be overweight again! So now, I know the importance of making it a daily commitment. If it’s not, then it’s just too easy to get off track. When we get off track, that’s when we tend to get discouraged. When we get discouraged, we fail.
I make sure that I weigh myself daily, and if I gain 1-2 pounds its much easier to lose it if I know right away.
I’ve added exercise to my daily routine Monday – Friday. I read through my goals and exercise each morning before I start my day. I’ve learned to wake up 30 minutes earlier and do my exercise regimen in my bedroom – some cardio with a focus on resistance training. My goal is to eventually get in cardio a couple more times a week, but I’ve at least been consistently working out on a daily basis. Though I want to incorporate more cardio, I never skimp on my resistance training because I realize how important it is to maintain my muscle and my metabolism!
It’s been a challenge for me to find what works for my schedule and now that I have, I don’t veer from my goals, it has become my lifestyle.
I’ve fallen off in the past and now I’ve made the proper adjustments. Its hard but fair. My goal is to be able to look good and live a long healthy life so that I can still run and play with my grandchildren in 30 years! But for now at 38, I need all the energy I can find to keep up with my 5 year old daughter, Marley. I want to be an example to her so that she will grow up with healthy behaviors and live a long healthy life.
It’s also my goal to serve as the best role model I possibly can to my patients and my employees. I however, want to be transparent and honest with you and let you know that I too struggle just like you. Every day we have to make the right choices to take care of our bodies. There will be days that you’ll fall off track, it’s okay it happens to all of us. Just make sure that you get back on track as soon as possible.
